Two children discover that their new pet parakeet longs for something much bigger than a cage!

Audrey and Arthur are getting a new pet and are so excited they can barely sleep! But their dreams of rabbits, kittens, and puppies fade when the mystery animal is revealed to be Keith, a clipped-wing parakeet. But as the children quickly find out, Keith isn't all he appears to be. And when he surprises them by talking, the pair find that Keith needs something much bigger than just a cage. No Need for a Mirror is a touching and joyous story of empathy and friendship.

Annette Cooper holds both an Arts Degree in English and a Science Degree in Zoology and Botany from Melbourne University. These contrasting areas of study have enabled her to approach the world from different perspectives, creating innovative contexts for learning. Her love of the natural world saw her employed as a researcher in both the ABC and BBC's Natural History Units. Annette enjoys the innocence, escapism, (deceptive) simplicity and sheer fun of children's books. She currently lives in Melbourne, Australia.

Lisa Griffin spends her days making art from a cozy studio in New Hampshire, USA. Her illustrations have been commissioned for greeting cards, magazines, and children's books. She believes in keeping the pencil moving, in the hopes of adding more happiness to the world, one illustration at a time. When not in the studio, Lisa enjoys yoga, photography, gardening, and being outside in the sunshine (preferably near a palm tree).
