Two grieving siblings leave painted pebbles on Grandpa’s favourite beachside rock for him to see as he travels to Heaven.

Two children have recently lost their grandfather. Unsure how to express their grief, they decide to paint the emotions they feel on pebbles they collect from the beach and place them on the big rock as gifts for Grandpa to see as he journeys to Heaven. Through this creative act, Charlie and Mae begin to make sense of their changing emotions and hold on to the love they shared. Grandpa’s Heart is a gentle, heartfelt, and beautifully illustrated story about remembering those we have lost, exploring grief with warmth and honesty, together with the comforting bonds of family.

Janine Easton, a retired history and English teacher with a master’s in Gifted Education, draws on her love of nature—shaped by growing up near the beach, on an island, and on a farm. Her belief in the healing effects nature has on children has contributed to her debut book, Grandpa’s Heart. She is a mother to two daughters and a Nanna to several scrumptious grandchildren, and she lives with her husband on the lands of the Wadawurrung people, Australia.

Mariona Roig Torné grew up in Tarragona, Spain. When little, she loved drawing animals and cute fuzzy friends and always dreamed of drawing pictures for children’s books. So, when she got bigger, she went to an art school in Tarragona to learn even more. She practiced a lot, and this book is something special she made!
